My question is if one uses the Tamron Tap-in Console correct a tamron lens of Camera A, will those adjustments be suitable/correct when that lens is used on Camera B? Lets say Camera is a full frame and camera B is a APC.

I have been reading about lens calibration and have watched a video of the technique. I have not yet tried calibration yet. My question is is I calibrate my principal lens, a Tamron SP 24-70 mm F2.8 Di VC USD G2, on my camera, Canon 5D IV, if I change to another lens, such as a Tamron SP 70-200 mm F2.8 Di VC USD G2, will that lens be affected by the camera calibration of the first lens? Does the camera hold in its memory calibration data for each lens?

Yes my Sonys A77 and A99 Both holds their memory. I think the camera knows the serial number of the lens as I have two of the same lens. each one has a different calibration number. When I put the lens on I have checked and the number changes to the correct number for that lens. I have over 30 Minolta A-mount lenses in addition to my Sony lenses never a problem. I have only calibrated 7 out of the 30 some Minolta.I have also tried a few Tamron and Sigma all work well. I have a record of the serial numbers, settings and the date I calibrated each lens. Anytime I put a lens on either camera that I haven't used for a while. I check the calibration number and it's always correct. I will say that there is a different number from one camera to the other on a few of the lenses. There have been a few lenses that after calibration didn't seem right. I had to re-calibrate them and I got a different number the second time. I will say that calibrating a 300 or 400MM zoom lens can be a pain when you place the target 50 times the focal length away. It takes a bit of fooling around and a few shots to read the target using a wide open aperture. Prime lenses on the other hand are quick and easy. Good Luck.

And this is why I am reluctant to crawl down this rabbit hole. Too many variables.

Looks like I will have to buy the Tamron USB dock based on the great feedback received. I have 5 Tamron lenses. Your comments about the glass once tuned and the software updates convices me to get the dock.

I put it in my previous reply to this post, but to repeat: I have tuned several Tamron lenses including a 24-70mm f/2.8 G2, 70-200mm f/2.8 G2, 150-600mm f/5-6.3 G2, 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 DX lens along with a couple of Tamron FX primes. I have moved them between a D7200 24mp DX, D500 20.9mp DX, D800 36.3mp FX, and D850 45.7mp FX. My experience is that once tuned, they are good to move from body to body.

As this is a Canon post DX = APS-C, FX = FF

Assuming you are referring to two DSLRs (not mirrorless camera’s), I would THINK it’s not likely that the calibration will be the same, but I don’t know for sure. The purpose of calibration is to compensate for the tolerance “stackup” between a specific camera and a specific lens. The calibrations of the tap in console are stored in the lens, while calibrations done on the camera are stored there. You MAY be able to use the dock to calibrate the lens to camera A and then use the in-camera MFA on camera B to compensate for the difference between camera A and B, but I have never tried it and no idea if it will work. Maybe another forum member has and can provide actual experience rather than conjecture.

I can also add a question for this topic if you don't mind.
I have a Z6 mirrorless and cannot get my Spider Pro 5 to work its software for a fine tune adjustment. Do I need to update the Spider?

I am confused. What does the Spider Pro 5 have to do with lens calibration? What does a z6 have to do with monitor calibration?

Calibrating a lens will only be for that lens, the camera will hold individual calibrations for all your lenses. Mirrorless cameras by virtue of they way they work do not require lens calibration.

Nikon mirrorless cameras have the ability to AF fine tune and occasionally a lens will need calibration. I check all my lens that I use with my mirrorless cameras just to be sure.

That confused me, as well.
