Yes - Angora Fire Lookout - it is not one of those you see usually as it is NOT built on high stilts with lots of stairs - the ridge is so high you just climb 3 or 4 steps to the platform around the tower.- fantastic view - the road to Fallen Leaf lake is right across the road from the Taylor Creek visitors center & viewing chamber. .

While you will be driving around the lake take a side trip to Fallen Leaf lake. The road takes off at Camp Richardson, south end of the Tahoe. Careful,, it's a one land road...Also for a spetacular view, you will see a sign for fire lookout while driving up Fallen Leaf. Take that road. When you arrive up there you will see all of Tahoe, Washoe Valley, and Carson Valley. Enjoy..........
Yes - Angora Fire Lookout - it is not one of those... (show quote)

Thx Harvey,,,
"ppreciate the help.. couldn't remember the name of the lookout.. But I sure remember how beautiful it was up there...:)

Also,,, Olympic Valley (aka Squaw Valley) has a tram that is worth the trip. they also have a great resturant on the mt. top. And I think there is an ice rink there, tho I don't if it is open now. This is where the 1960 Olympic's were held and now they are trying to get the games here in 2022.

When you were up there did you go on up to the end of the road and walk -3/4 mi-up to Upper Angora Lake resort.- If not be sure to do it some time - in the summer they have the best home made lemon aid on earth - to go with the scenery.

Harvey, I don't remember doing that. U have to understand,, I was a teeny bopper at the time and as a T.B. I was required to act totally bored out of my mind. But in reality I thot it was one of the most beautiful places I'd been too.

Dstead,,Sorry,, but I forgot too mention, as you leave South Tahoe, and heading back to Reno, look for Kingsberry Grade. Take that hiway down the mountain into Genoa Nv. It's the oldest town in Nevada. Great place to take a ride or a good long break from the driving. Enjoy.. also excellent place to take some photos.. Ok, no more from me.. Just have fun..... PM me if you want more advice or suggestions to stay here in Reno...preciousmetalfan @gmail.com

The Ponderosa was closed last summer. I wanted to take my grandchildren there but had to settle for Kayaking in Emerald Bay and a horseback ride at Richardson Stables.

OK - I had 4 daughters who I took up there quite often for the view & to fish - last year was one of my daughters 20th consecutive year of vacationing in the same cabin at Upper Angora Resort.
Like they say - it is like visiting a post card.

Hi~ You have lot's of suggestions to pick from and not enough time to do them all but I thought I would add to the list. Leaving Reno on highway 395 towards Carson City turn right on highway 431 towards Mt. Rose. After the summit there is a nice turnout that overlooks the lake. Continue to the bottom and turn right on highway 28 and go about 1 mile and turn right on Reservoir Rd. ( if you get to the clubs at Crystal Bay you've gone too far ) then right on Lakeview Ave. and go 1/4 mile and there will be limited parking on the right and you will see a gate on the left. Walk through the gate and follow the path up the mountain. Depending on what kind of shape your in it's a 15-30 minute walk. When you get to the top it is a breath taking view of the lake and surrounding area that you'll never forget...Enjoy

Actually quite informative. So the circularly polarized light is created inside the linear polarizer by the quarter-wave plate so as not to mess up the focusing and metering. This is why in the film camera days we only needed the linear polarizer. It makes me wonder why the focusing and metering isn't fooled by the unfiltered polarized light from the sky...

I once had polarized sunglasses made to fit my prescription glasses, and they did not align the polarization axes. My two eyes got different amounts of glare and reflection reduction, and it gave me nausea. I sent them back and had them remade and they apologized for the mistake.

I recall there was a bad fire at Angora Lake a few years ago. Has the area recovered? It was a beautiful lake with a small resort and a few cabins that I thought might have been destroyed.
