Although I have a Z6 and not a Z7, I much prefer the focusing of any of my DSLRs. One of the things that holds the Nikon mirrorless system back, IMHO, is the poor autofocus. Can't speak @ other mfrs. Best of luck.
Yes, I read somewhere in a camera review article that the Nikon mirrorless Zs had a real problem with autofocus.
I have a Nikon D3500, a Canon 7100, both dslr, a old Minolta film which takes amazing shots still, but wish I could sell it., but looking to buy a new Sony Sony Alpha a7S III Mirrorless Digital Camera, and dont want to get rid of the other 2, but the cost is a bit steep right now. Hopefully after the holidays, since they seem to be right around the corner.

Admit it. You will buy another camera. What will it be?
It may be an extra/backup, or maybe you want a small compact camera for travel. Of course, you could be planning to update and replace your Main Shooter. I have my D750, Sony a6000, and Fuji X-T30, in addition so some older cameras, so I'm all set. But what about you?
I like my D700 so well that, since we are fiddling with fantasy, it would be nice if Nikon could swap out the sensor for one with more megapixels (I have no interest in doing video) and stuff Image Stabilization in the body somewhere because I also really like lenses that still have an aperture ring. The only VR lens I have is one I keep on the D90 which has been converted to infrared.

In my case I believe 7 cameras are more than enough.
I too have seven cameras and couldn't resist adding number eight this week (Canon G15 mint) and should receive it Monday.
I wonder if the Sony RX 10 - IV is really the solution as the perfect travel camera? Some say it is too heavy. My real question is performance and image quality. Thoughts welcome. Thank you !
The Leica SL2 interests me, but the price does not.
When most folks do not understand it. There is no more reason to buy.
canon mirrorless ---8 stops vibration control
All i ever needed was 1 camera body and one lens. But you know sometimes g.a.s. gets the best of us. Still all
the equipment is very useful. Just have some fun.
Call me old fashioned but I generally hang onto my gear till it no longer functions. I have an old 500D which I have used for years. Had 3 lenses for it but fell one day and totaled two of them so now it has a nifty fifty on it permanently. Which I don't find too hard as I was brought up using only 50mm lenses.
I also have a Lumix TZ80 which suits me fine now. Light and lots of options. I recently had a stroke so I just use the Lumix at the moment. Was going to get lenses for the Canon but figured I was getting older and shakier hence the Lumix. Horses for courses I guess.
Cheers

Very deep wisdom! Sometimes the photographer is lost in the blizzard of new equipment mania!!
No I won't. If I buy anything it will be better glass.

Sony RX100 VII or similar . . . but too costly. I.m sirely tempted by the used ones at q/erd thevprice. Why? Looks pocketable. Even has a view finder. High quality in a small package.

I’m all set....for now. But if one needed replaced I would look at the D7500 or D610.
It was Sigma 180mm macro. Not 800mm. But if there is 800mm for FX Nikon, it will fit Z7 through the adapter Nikon made for Nikon F interface lenses.
