p.15 Wonderful face and smile. Great background. Wondering if the exposure or whites were raised a tad if it would really show off his features.

Very nice, Pat. Scenery like that is what I find the hardest to convert to B&W.

Thanks, Denns. Sometimes, when there is sharp shadow and strong light, BW works amazingly well. Not always, but many times. (A trick I heard/learned at a Nat'l Geog. photography workshop)

Thanks for the tip, Pat. I've been trying to develop an "eye" for black & white conversions and haven't come up with any system. I just do it intuitively and am surprised that my batting average is as good as it is. I do enjoy it and plan to keep it up. Tomorrow my wife and I are going for about 5 days of camping in Ossipee, NH.
I hope my camera enjoys the trip as much as we do.

I've noticed that many times my images upload darker and less sharp to UHH than they appear when I prepare them.

I agree Pat that sometimes the images will come out darker in UHH than how I remember seeing them on my screen before I sent them.

I enjoy converting some color images to black and white, I would enjoy seeing your images, also.
Here's my contribution. Some of my favorites.

It is. We took a riverboat tour that let me get the shot at this angle. Turns out the whole bridge was supposed to be made with the arching superstructure, but that despite Tennessee and Arkansas agreeing to split the cost of construction, the Arkansas half is just a flat platform style....cheaper.

Seeing your post reminded me of another image I liked way more in B/W. Car museum in Santa Rosa NM. I can hope it's still open....... As an aside, this image has been printed in cyanotype prints multiple times by myself and my high school chemistry students.
