Wow a quadrapod supporting an unshod biped
A chair, Just what I need for photography w/o pain!
My 500 doesn't get out as much these days. The older I get the heavier my gear gets. Must be something in the Florida water.
Thanks for sharing your solution.
Happy shooting
Is that an original issued kneen or one of the Bionic models, that usually comes later in life....
I have the same issue! Though your solution may work for you, I feel that I must caution you -- the position you are in is very bad for your back. It's probably fine in a pinch, but I wouldn't stay in that position very long or do it every day. Some of us have traded in our big gear for a mirrorless, lightweight option.
Personally, I do not Kneed a big lens, I have a compact superzoom. With some effort, I can finger out how to do birding with it.

NOT on my "best practices" list.
This picture is the reason I switched from Canon to Olympus and saved pounds in my photo kit. The omd em1 m2 and the 300 mm (600mm equivalent) probably weighs less that the lens alone.
Is that chair rated for that heavy of camera and lens...😳😎😎

You are correct in weight. But for me, a full frame 600 4 is much better than a 600 on a 4/3 sensor. You do save on weight but the sacrifice on sensor size which is it too much for me. Yes, there is a big difference. See chart below.
