If the there is 70% chance that a thing might occur, is there any chance it will occur?

If you flip a coin 10 times, and it's a real US coin, and it lands heads-up 9 times, does chance favor the 11th toss landing tails-up?

Is there a greater chance a roulette wheel will land on the same slot seven times in a row, or of it landing a certain defined other sequence of seven slots?

If a woman has a 3% chance of being accosted while out jogging, what are the chances after it happens?

If you add together all the probabilities of bad things that could happen to an individual, is it more than 100%?

Have fun!

My wife is a statistician. She tells me I shouldn't use any of my limited brainpower on these things. 50% chance I'll be wrong.

Ask the next 30 people you see what their birthdays are. Chances are, one of them will have your birth date (not year).

Looks more like probability than statistics.

Probability is the study of chance. Statistics is more concerned with how we handle data using different analysis techniques and collection methods. You can use statistics to put a number on the likelihood of an event but it probably won't be correct. Statistics will definitely tell you for sure how many times an event has occurred but not if and when it ever will again.

We would have to gather some statistics before we could know that your statement, "statistics are convincing to those who don't no statistics" is correct. It probably isn't correct.

There is a 99% chance I will come up with many great excuses not to mow the lawn tomorrow. There is also a 99% chance the misses will shoot them all down

I didn't see any statistics, only probabilities. Probabilities tell us what might happen. Statistics tell us what has happened.

Did you know that 67.5 percent of statistics are totally made up?

I used to believe that 50% of the population was of lower than average intelligence but as I grow older I'm becoming convinced that it is a far higher percentage than that!

Chances are, this discussion will go on for quite a while, and someone will publish statistics about what has been posted.

Speaking of averages, the average American has one testicle.
