I guess I should say it is a teleconverter 2X?

I have a 2x and 3x Vivitar teleconvertes. I use them on my Canon T5. Adding the 50mm Vivitar lens works very well. Let me know if you would like me to post a few pics with each converter.

Does it say "Vivitar 2X MACRO FOCUSING TELECONVERTER MC N/AI"?

Canon makes a 60D
Nikon D60?.

Yes, you’ll probably loose some image quality, among with 2 stops of light, but you’ll retain your minimum focus. Post some samples!
Could be a fun combo.

I have that exact same "2X Macro Focusing Teleconverter" which is a helicoid expanding adapter with lens glass like a typical teleconverter. It is intended to be used with a 50mm prime lens which will in turn provide macro image size ratios. It is (or was) an alternative to owning both a macro lens and a 'nifty-fifty'. For its time it was a quite clever solution and easy to carry to switch from one to another as one would walkabout with camera in hand.

I've used it at times in my 'Frankenstein' micro photography setups where I would couple it with other lenses and microscope objectives. I found that the more glass that I pass the image through the more the fine details tend to soften. Experimenting is part of the joy of photography however there are typically more duds than their are steller results.

Fine for hobbyist. "Pros" mostly not interested. However check out this video show with a 2000mm lens with 2x lens.

If your camera is a Canon 60D, a teleconverter "for a Nikon" won't fit properly or lock onto the camera. Two different lens mounts.

Nikon has never made a "60D", let alone a "60 d2.8", whatever that is.

Maybe you're using a Nikon D60 camera?

Or, maybe you're referring to an AF 60mm f/2.8D Micro-Nikkor lens? An old Nikon F-mount Vivitar 2X teleconverter would work on that, though it would mean no AF (...and no VR if lens has it... or, worse, no aperture control possible with a Micro-Nikkor AF-S 60mm f/2.8"G" lens).

I'd suggest waiting until you inspect the images more closely on a larger computer screen before promoting that 2X very much. What looks fine on the camera's rear LCD screen might look like crap when it's a little larger.

My apologies for the confusion the lens that I am referring to is the Nikon micro Nikkor 60mm 2.8 d lens with 1to 1 ratio.
