Racing boats are incredible. You got some great shots. They are like NASCAR on water - the noise and roostertails are sights to behold.
Thanks so much, Pat. I'm really glad you enjoyed
these...I have over 400 more from this race alone
if you want me to post those....lol

Pg 32 - Awesome, awesome photography, Pat!

Pg 26 - Awesome series of images, Frank! I
especially love those houseboats in #1.
I'm not sure about Sausalito, CA, but in Seattle,
WA, you actually purchase the land under your
houseboat! (And those couple hundred square
feet go for about ten times the price of a home
in our area...lol)
Now if only I could find the film image I have of
the houseboat used in the movie "Sleepless
in Seattle."

Thanks Tim. I wonder how they can sell land under a houseboat..... That sounds wierd.

Well, boats will always flush me out of hibernation!
Many of my images are scanned from old and damaged 35mm slides, and my attempts at clean-up have rarely had the skilled attention required; also no-better-cared-for negatives. They don't stand download very well, so I hope you will excuse quality, which I have subordinated to what I think of as topical interest.
I'm afraid the twenty or so pages added since I started my archive search and did some PP on a selection remain unopened. The upside is that I still have the enjoyment of all your wonderful and varied work ahead of me.
Here are a few from the lower-tech (paddles and oars) end of the topic.
Well, boats will always flush me out of hibernatio... (

Pg 32 - Ron, all of these images carry so, so much impact!
I can't begin to thank you for sharing them with us. They
certainly help put things in perspective...at least they should.

Pg 33 - This image brings back so many memories,
Longshadow. Our family vacationed in Wildwood, NJ
for many, many years and we always made a side
trip to Cape May and Sunset Beach! Very fascinating
story about this WW I era concrete vessel!

A few years ago we visited Charleston, SC. and crossed the river to visit and tour some famous boats.
The submarine wasn't open yet to tour.

Well, those boats are pretty much anchored in place
and only rise and fall with the tide, but I promise
you it is true. Actually, there are two distinct types
of these dwellings; house boats, which have navigation
capabilities, and floating houses, which do not.
The land underneath a floating house is either owned
by the owner of the floating house, or by an HOA.
