On another day, I went out with the crew and had a nice ride...I learned what a "knockdown" is (that's when there's too much spinnaker and the boat actually lays over...I held my camera *way* up in the air while my right side was temporarily immersed! The boats are like corks and won't sink...the crew yells alot and finally the sails break out of the water and, BLIP, we're upright again. Quite the education, lol) The last shot is the end of day (I title it Loophole after one of the boats, haha) and right after that I went for my phone to make a call...yes it was in the right hand pocket of my jacket and dead to the world. I've processed 3 of these as art pieces, just so you know, lol...

Here are a few shots of a potential disaster. Every week in the winter the Long Beach Yacht Club has a "Wet Wednesday" affair where many sailboats get together and race around a standard course, many classes. I'm riding in one owned by a friend who sells boats and is a member of said club. This day, one of the boats actually made contact with a jetty, we (the boat I was on) tried to help but were waved off by the race operators and LB Fire and Rescue...here is the gist:

Boy, that must have been exciting! Good thing no one got injured!

Back in the day (gawd, never thought I'd use that phrase!) of my Kodak 6mp P&S. From the 2007 Savage Man Triathlon showing standby rescue boat on a foggy and cool day (about 35 degree air temp this morning of the inaugural event).

This is evidence of something we already know. Its truly not the camera, its the photographer.

Thanks Jill! Actually, I processed these a few years ago, the artsy shots are sRGB for printing so you see the colors correctly in thumbnail, and the other not, so download to see colors as shot. *And* the other series are not sRGB, either, so those look correct on download too!
