So how simple do you need it ?
Simple enough to be true which your statement was not. But you can ignore my response if you wish because it proved you were wrong. I won't try to confuse you with facts you can't accept.

I have the older version of this lens that will stop down to 5.6. I use it on a Nikon D7100 and on a Nikon D500. It works well on either camera and quickly autofocuses through the entire range of f stops in broad daylight. I can get as close 5 or so inches from a flower and still get good focus. I sometimes use a Kenko 1.4 extender with it and have autofocus to at least f8 in broad daylight. I like the ability to open as wide as possible in low light situations so the f5.6 stop is important to me. I would not sell my current lens and get the newer version just to get a lens that is 10 ounces lighter and loses a stop. By the way, I am in my early eighties and weight is of a concern sometimes but not enough to make me lose some needed functionality like the wider f stop.

We have yet to see you prove anything. Your personal gear and how it works for your applications is way too narrow of a sample size on which to base any advice. OTOH if the TC doesn’t fit, it doesn’t fit.

I changed from a DX to a fx body and all dx lenses collecting dust. Someone mention the 4.0 what I would check out too.
Good luck

You are a pig headed moron. I posted a review by a poster on dp review complete with video and picture sample of using that lens with a Kenko 2x TC. Another poster just posted he uses the lens with a Kenko TC. No one ever experienced that a TC doesn't fit on that lens. You are an idiot. There is no WE except in your addled brain.

WE find no value in a user commenting on a 3rd party item that is not relevant to the discussion. If YOU choose to buy one on his advice have a good time, but it contributes nothing here. You may be entertaining but to the solution bring nothing useful.

[quote=CHG_CANON] teleconverters are designed for specific lenses, not all lenses. /quote]

Third party TC's ARE designed to physically and optically work with most all lenses (except wide angles).

IMO, most OEM TC's were actually DESIGNED and optimized to work with their 300 mm 2.8 PRIMES - but will still "work" physically and optically with several of their other lenses - just not in an optimized way.

Sorry for another digression .....

WE? There's no WE. WE is a figment of your imagination.
