To break the monotony, decided to take a road trip. We decided to follow Hurricane Laura and went up into Kentucky and then points north. Truly sad for the folks along the Gulf Coast, best wishes on a speedy recovery. However, driving through the 'Bluegrass' state is indeed a beautiful experience even though it was overcast and raining (remnants of Laura). Went via Bardstown to visit the Makers Mark Distillery and unfortunately, thanks to the Wuhan Virus, it and all the other distillery tours were closed, no tours. Anyway we drove around the Star Hill Farm and took a few photos of the Farmhouse & Distillery before getting back on the road. Such a Picturesque valley and lovely grounds, hope to get back there again for a real tour and a sampling soon. Photos look much better in download

Too bad about the distillery but the shots you got on your adventure are really beautiful.

Don't let this wry experience drive you to drink.

Lots of nice distilleries to visit while you're here on your next trip. Be sure to check out the Bourbon Trail literature for a list of open distilleries. I'd definitely recommend Woodford Reserve, between Lexington and Versailles. Or come back next September for the Bourbon Festival in Bardstown!
