This past several months my Comcast internet has been intermittently slow. I can appreciate that more people are using it and the band width is congested...but I'm paying for fast internet at up to 100 MBPS and getting these result.
Is anyone else having similar problems?
Wonder if AT&T is having the same problem...perhaps its time to shop around.
Yes. I changed to Metronet. So far so good. Cutting the cable feels sooo good!
I have Xfinity and my download speed test was 24mb. Then about five minutes later the retest showed 64mb. That's quite an unexplainable difference.
...14 mbps download speed is really poor...you might want them to visit to see what’s wrong...maybe an update in equipment...?
Let's face it, this whole cable operation is nothing but a money vacuum. Like the cell phone business, it is simply a way to make as much money as possible while putting as little effort into it as possible. Other countries have better features and better service. I often have to switch from cable to Tivo because Spectrum can't deliver TV service to me.
Someone in my Zoom group complained to his provider, and they passed the blame off on the router he was using.
Is this speed test with a cable direct from the modem into a laptop or PC? If not, the losses start to pile up and wifi is even trickier. You can research YouTube for things you can do at zero cost to make sure you are getting the best possible speed and wifi signal. I spent a month debugging ours when we experienced a slowdown. With the aide of freeware, i was able to troubleshoot, make changes and get the speeds I was paying for. But it all starts with knowing what speed you have, hardwired direct to the modem (not router). Good luck.
I wish I could get 14 down and 10 up. Just checked mine, 6.7 down and 1.5 up. Try moving to the rural boondocks of our great country. lol
My high speed Internet from Cox Communications is pretty good whenever I test the speed. My plan is stated at up to 50 Mbps download speed and up to 5 Mbps upload speed. With a hard wired connection to the router and no applications open I get really close to 50 Mbps download speed (often even just a little faster), and around 2.6 Mbps upload speed. I don't really care about the upload speed. When I'm not testing the speed, I rarely see buffering in streaming movies on the TV or computers, but a little more frequently on my Wi-Fi connected smartphones. I started noticing this last June when I reduced the speed of our Internet package with the cable company after our daughter, our grandson and our great-granddaughter moved out. With fewer computers and TV's we didn't think we needed the speed we were paying for any longer. The reduction doesn't save us much.
I'm still on cable. I got curious about my internet speed so I went to Measurement Labs and ran a test.
Download is 113 Upload is 11.0

I followed your lead and got 110.2 download and 8.46 upload.

Comcast in Placerville, California. I wish the upload speed were better for when I upload really large files (like video) to the cloud. I just walk away for a while. Other than that, no complaints. You should call them up and complain.

And I followed your lead. I use Xfinity and I tested download @ 252.27, upload @ 17.18, latency @ 24ms and 0.00% retransmission...not bad, now if only they weren't as fast constantly raising my bill.
Call customer service to complain, you should get what you are paying for!

Seems to me they're being a bit sneaky with the advertising. 10mb is certainly on the way to 100mb maximum. My provider (UK - BT) offers a 'normal' download speed of 65-73mbps and a MINIMUM of 59mbps with a cashback payment should it fall below this in normal use.
