Pugs are sweet dogs. We've had three, with just one left. Unfortunately, they were bred with built-in health concerns.
I used to drive for a pug rescue group. I'd drive a hundred miles or so to pick up a pug and then meet someone who was driving it on the second leg of its journey. We once went to a rescue center to get a pug they listed. As we pulled into the parking lot, we saw a couple leaving with a pug. They beat us to it by just a few minutes.
I'm compelled to say it...
Those that selectively bread animals so they have breathing problems, displaced hips,
and a raft of other difficulties, and shit like, no fur, for example, are wrong...
Josef Mengele would be proud of them though.

We just got a 6 year old dog and she is very sweet but it's been difficult to change old bad habits. So far not much luck after 4 months.
So what are her bad habits? Perhaps they can be changed if you have the time!
Happy Shooting!

Saving one dog
Will not change
The world,
But for that one dog
The world will be
Forever changed.
Good image of a very cute pup. All of the dogs & cats my wife and I have gotten over the years have been recues. We had 2 pugs, Max and Mabel, they were brother & sister. My wife would take another pug in a heart beat!

Very nice thing to do, Brent, You have a good companion.
My rescue Rat Terrier "Daisy" was adopted at 1 y/o over 4 years ago. A delight and so appreciative for our loving family.
Pretty, I have 3 rescue cats, so much fun, very different personalities
Scruples, She was not house broke when we got her. She is a very fast learner and doing really well. Seldom does she have an accident.

Simone is a beautiful puppy. Even though is 6 years old, they are always puppies. House Breaking is relatively easy. My method is tying a bell on the doorknobs that lead outside. You must catch her and scold her but not hit her. Clean the area and use vinegar not ammonia. Place a wee-wee pad or newspaper near the door. When she uses the paper, praise her but don’t give her treats. When she needs to go out teach her to ring the bell with her nose or her paw. Then take her for a walk immediately or let her in the yard. If she has some difficulty understanding you may have to place her in a kennel in the house over night. When you wake up in the morning, let her out please immediately.
She needs to know there is a time and place to do certain things, like playing and going to the bathroom.
When she is a good puppy, pet her and give treats occasionally. Never give human food. The majority of human food has too much fat for any dog to digest and metabolize. Patience is key here. Even though she is six, she will understand your routines. I have been adopted by several dogs and this way works for us.
Here is our 70 pound 5 year old puppy who thinks he is a lap dog. We rescued Bentley. We thought he was Albino. It turns out that he is a Labrador and Dalmatian mix. So, where are his spots? They are on his belly!
Happy Shooting!
Bentley finds a stick to chew on!

We have a house and yard full of rescued critters. From hamsters and Guinea Pigs to chickens and ducks, parrots, cats and dogs. Rescuing animals is really the best way togo!
