Considering a Nikon holiday to the U. P. after the weather cools down; wanting suggestions for seascape locations along the Lake Superior shoreline. Heading north because it is too far a drive to Coos Bay, OR and not sure I want to fly out there at this time.

Not far from Lake Superior is Bond Falls, about 45 minutes south of Ontonagon, MI. I’ve been there several times, and the falls are beautiful. Google Bond Falls to see if you would have an interest.

Bond Falls is great no doubt, but if you are coming from the east I would spend most of your time in the Pictured Rocks area, Munising, for more waterfalls, more variety, and more photoscenics. Arch on the water taken from the Pictured Rocks boat cruise.

The Mackinac Bridge and running over the grating and seeing the water under me on my bike was my most thrilling moment in that area coming back from Canada years back.

If you get up into the Keweenaw Peninsula Private Message me. Happy to show you around where I live. Fall colors are running about 10% to 15%.

You will not be able to find anywhere on Lake Superior that isn’t beautiful. That said, Lakes Michigan and Huron in the UP are stellar as well. Have fun, I’ll be there in a few weeks myself.
Consider Taquamenon area, Whitefish point area, Straights area, Les Chaneaux/Drummond Island in addition to all places already posted. Also Brockway and all of the Keewenaw.
Pick axe blonde at the Keewenaw Brewery is a must for me.

You are absolutely correct. Bond Falls is definitely worth the trip. In fact I took my avatar picture there. Had to walk with my gear about ten minutes mostly up hill to get to the best part of the falls but well worth it.

While you're in that neck of the woods it's only a short hop to the Apostle Islands which my grad school roommate pointed me toward on my first trip to the UP by myself (I also got a Yooper keyholder which handily fits around my neck while I'm running errands so I don't have to worry about having all my keys so visible).

suggest Tahquamemon Falls State Park & Whitefish Point where the Edmund Fitzgerald went down (Gordon Lightfoot). Also Porcupine Mts State Park very scenic.

And the better shots will be on the right side as you walk up. Love da UP!
