A question for those of you who do Go Pro video and have a 27" iMac with a 5k display regarding file quality.
I have a pair of Go Pro video cameras that I take with me on road trips for just the fun of shooting video. I do not share much if any of the video content as I am not completely satisfied with my end result. My question concerns the difference in video quality in viewing the video on my 27" iMac and my 59" 4K Sony Television. On my iMac I get very clear high definition video. On my Sony the video is not nearly as sharp. Is this caused by the difference in dimensions of the monitor and TV screen or do I need to look elsewhere?
From what I have read, HD video should look as good or better on a 4K screen as it does on a 2K screen. So I would guess the larger picture is causing the difference in sharpness. If you look at a youtube video on your monitor in a small frame and then look at it full screen, I think the smaller image will always appear sharper. The reason broadcast TV or big production movies look so sharp even though they are just in HD is the quality of the cameras and lenses and lighting used.
I have also remembered that years ago when large screen tv's were first high definition that if you were not looking square on to the tv screen that the picture seemed to be weak.
