Hi. It's a bluebottle fly.The front part is it's proboscis, or fly tongue if you will. It's the 'pipe' through which it vomits its digestive juices onto digestible material, and through which it then proceeds to suck the digested material into it's body. We have (fortunately) evolved to a point where we digest our food inside. It's something to be grateful for, because you can just imagine what thanksgiving with uncle Gene around is going to look like eh?
