Getting my new 600mm lens in the end of this week and am looking for areas to shoot birds, ex: spoonbills, egrets and the like. I know that the rookery is pretty dead this time of the year, but wondering if anybody has sites that are not well known.

Well, I know that National Geographic has a book called Birding spots for the Western U.S. I would say there is probably another one for the Eastern U.S.
