I have heard so much about the new MIRRORLESS Cameras, although I realize it would mean purchasing a whole new system of Photography Camera & Lens, not even sure I can afford my contemplated change. I am also at the age of 70 now and am not a Technology Genius, so maybe I have already answered my own question, "Should I take the Leap to MIRRORLESS, or be content with my current Equipment?? Come on, now. At 70 years you are to old to change? I am a few months away from being 86. Two years ago as I prepared for a ten day trip to Israel, I convinced myself my Canon 7D mark II was heavier than I wanted to carry every day. So I took the step and ordered the Canon EOS M50 mirrorless camera. When it arrived, I had questions. It was so small and light that it looked like a toy beside my 7DII. By the end of the first day with the tour group in Israel I was in love with the M50. No real learning curve involved. Earlier this year I decided to add full frame to my collection and went to the Canon website and purchased a refurbished RP. What a great camera. My point; never assume you are just too old to advance.

When you know you need a mirrorless camera, you have the knowledge to succeed.

Not to get into a discussion of brands, but I sure have learned to love my M-50. Really sharp lens, and so much smaller and lighter than my other Canons, which I also keep and use. Just for the record, I am 70.

Go for the Z6. Retain F lenses will work with the camera and the converter ; those with their dedicated drive motor. I bought the kit lens is 24-70 f/4 - fantastic as to weight and sharpness. I purchased the system last year whenI was 73. My children will tell you that I am wandering in the desert with respect to technology. Trade in everything else to defray your cash outlay. Do you have any ‘gem’ lenses?
This is my take I the issue you raised.

It really depends - size and weight wise there would not be much difference between a Z50 and D3300 - I have the D3300 and D7200 and love them both - I use the D3300 where I want to travel light for family or casual uses. The Z50 would be more up to date and more capable in some regards, but it really boils down to what you intend to shoot. If you have the disposable income and need a new "toy" why not enjoy it. But first, try it at least in a store to see if the EVF is to your liking, among other features. If you do go Z50 be sure to get the FTZ adapter. But, quite often, the "grass is greener" on the mirrorless side of the fence.

I own a D3400 as my main camera, have five nice Nikkor lenses and am close to your age. Have also considered a Z50 crop sensor mirrorless but came to the conclusion that there would be little or no IQ improvement over my D3400 which I consider “stunning”. Have decided to just concentrate on improving my skills.
