i bought same camera & kit for $998 BRAND NEW and since then I’ve seen its price decrease. Why would anyone want to pay $950 for it second-hand AND REFURBISHED?

Why? Perhaps because someone else would like the camera at that price would be my thought. Apparently you are not a potential customer but why weigh in if not? Let others do their own homework and decide whether it's a good buy or not. No need to rain on anyone's parade. Just a suggestion. Just sayin'.

What do you think is a fair price? Since you already have one, do you have something constructive to say, or are you just barking, like so many in this site seem to like to do.

Why weigh in? To give you a clue about market conditions and to inform others that you appear to be pricing it too high. You should be thanking me.

Thank you! I asked him the same thing. If he already has one, did he have something constructive to say or just barking out like so many here like to do. I'll listen to reasonable offers.

You have a funny way of offering advice. If you would have simply stated that the prices have come down and that I might want to reconsider the asking price, then I would have gladly said thank you. Instead you just said what you said, in the way you said it, along with the added bold print. Like I said, you have a funny way of offering advice.

It's a shame these butinsky's can't mind their own business. I've had to put up with these people myself trying to sell stuff here. I was accused of overpricing an item and then on the other hand 3 or 4 folks wrote in and said that it was a very fair price. And after the buyer received it he let me know how happy he was with the purchase. If your not interested in purchasing, just move on.

Exactly! I think some very unhappy people just wake up and can't wait to just spread their "joy" on everyone else. If you have something constructive to say, then offer it up. He wrote me back saying I should be thanking him! What, after the way he went about it, including the scolding bold print? I did go back to eBay to check the most recent sales. Used bodies have sold for anywhere between $600-$750. Mine is a Refurbished model, just purchased. So I did lower the price. That's all that needed to be pointed out. Certainly not in the tone or way he went about saying it. Grouch!

Although lev29 made a valuable point on price, a private e-mail simply stating what the going prices were currently would have been much more appropriate.

That's all I was saying. I even initially responded asking what did he think a fair price would be? But as happens way too much on this site, we have to put up with people responding to inquiries that they don't have any an interest in. My favorite being, "Google it!"

You are also mistaken as to the privlce coming down. I checked B&H and it is still $998.

I recently listed a camera body for sale and had someone jump in and declare that he had just purchased the same item new on manufacturer special for $50 more. I was well aware of the special and timed my listing to hit after it expired and the new price had risen back up some $400. The person later acknowledged the timing but I’ll never know if my lack of responses on my ad had been influenced.
I have sold several items on this site, and every time it was after inquiries were received, info exchanged and price negotiated. When someone who is not interested in buying an item jumps in and offers an opinion on the offer this process is interrupted and a possible transaction is thwarted.
If you are not interested in buying an item listed on this site, STAY OUT OF IT.

Boy, Steve, you should have stuck with your descriptor "funny," instead of further expanding into outright attack mode.

Funny? How about reacting to what I was politely NOT explicitly writing, such as, "My God! Haven’t you bothered checking on current pricing? Or is it that you think you can fool someone into paying that much?"

You mean, Steve, you have NEVER found it irksome when you see a USED price out of line? Gee, that’s funny.

So checking with B&H CURRENT LISTING is your basis for deciding that someone is unequivocally mistaken about when he thought he saw a lower price on some unspecified website within the past 1.5+ years since purchasing same brand-new, not refurbished? Is that the limit of your sophistication?

I am both amused and distressed that my first two posts have apparently ignited a stream of protests about someone "daring" to utter what he believes to be the truth.

For those of you, other than the OP, who participated in this "stream," particularly YOU, SteveG, all I can think of are two words: pathetic & hypocrites. (Just review this entire forum for examples.)

I’m not going to respond to further rants in this thread. But troll on, if you must.

As for the OP, if you truly wanted to just post your FREE ad, use a medium that forbids all but truly interested buyers from responding.

You know what, Bridges? Your suggestion is constructive and I confess I hadn’t thought of that. But I will keep it in mind.
