It is easy to set up a wi fi hotspot on your ipad using your phone to connect it to your cell provider. That was you have connectivity on the ipad if you need it. I do this lots when traveling. I do turn off "sync" under these conditions though, as it is seldom fast enough and gets annoying. But it works fine for email and browsing, social media posting, etc.

GrandmaG The 11in. is a good choice especially for your vacation trips .... but don’t sell the picture taking quality with your iPad toooooo short - with the wide angle and clarity are really pretty good. If you are traveling with a group it is so much easier to have someone take a picture (of your group) with the iPad - most people will not be intimidated by clicking an iPad than they would a camera. Also, you can edit it and air drop/email it to everyone instantly. Good luck in your travels... and have fun with your iPad, I have been traveling with mine for several years and I am a retired airline pilot and still do a lot of traveling... Take care, Skate

I will keep that in mind. Along with traveling light, my camera bag will be light as well. One camera and 2 lenses, with a backup pocket camera (and of course there is always the phone and now the iPad!!).
