Lightroom Tip not a whole lot know about.
I learned about this wonderful letter n in Lightroom.
If you want to compare pictures side by side or in a group to decide what photo you think looks the best Highlight the photos then hit the letter n.
You will see the pictures in a group. If you hit the little triangle on the far left outside mid page you will see a bigger image of them together and then even more if you hit the outside triangle on the right.
To get out of the side by side comparison hit your esc key. and getting back to regular screen hit the triangle key again on each side.
I've been using Lightroom a long time and never knew about this n key till this morning and the first 3 people I talked to today, professional photographers, didn't know either.
How many of you Lightroom user knew of this function?
Thanks for the tips Jim Pops and bleirer.

Thanks Jim-Pops - I stumbled onto this about a year ago and have been using it quite extensively, and you can add as many pictures as you want, but of course the benefit reduces with more pictures in a selection (also depends a bit on the monitor screen size you are using, my monitors are 27", so you can add quite a few pictures). Also, you can eliminate both side panels by clicking on the triangles at the side to increase the space for the pictures.
One additional helpful step: If you have several pictures in the "n"-lineup and want to eliminate one of them, just move your cursor onto the photo, then click on the letter "x" in the bottom right corner of that picture, this will eliminate the picture from your line-up, but not delete the picture.
Then there is of course the "Compare" selection activated by clicking on the letter c, where you can add just two pictures, but the advantage here is that you can increase the magnification on both pictures simultaneously, helping you in the selection process.
Always good to learn little tricks in this wonderful software, thanks again for posting this. Joe
Isn't this just a shortcut to the Survey view? Tons of one letter shortcuts in LR. As for clicking the triangles to see the photos bigger by hiding the panels, this option is always available, regardless of whether you're in Survey view or not.

Apparently Lightroom 6 doesn't have an esc.key. Not sure about the rest. Thanks oh yea nice photos.
Tom
On the lower tool bar there is an icon with three squares. That apparently does the same thing. I have been using it for years.Once you get the comparisons pulled up, you can x out the ones you don't like
It’s new to me, and very much worth knowing. Thank you!
Thanks. I will be using that on a regular basis

I tried this for the first time yesterday when you mentioned it in my thread. It's so cool. And it will allow me to compare side by side duplicate images to find the best one. To answer Tshift, the escape key is on your keyboard, not a click in LR.
