Question on optimizing the fit of Meike extension tubes

I have a set of Meike extension tubes that fit perfectly, no issues at all -- other than the learning curve to actually use them. It seems yours might not have passed quality control ... if there is any! I guess I'm lucky.

As USMC helicopter mechanics used to tell me when installing rotor blades, if it doesn’t fit get a bigger hammer/wrench.

I tried Kenko tubes and found the to be next to junk!! they would not maintain electrical connections and the lock up was VERY sloppy.
I paid up and bought Nikon tubes, end of problem, while advertised as auto the only thing that worked was the meter, no problem for me since I shoot full manual all the time. They are a bit pricey but well worth the money.

Thanks for the information. I'll file it away and use as needed.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Mine just feels a bit tight when I twist it onto the camera mount and when I twist my macro lens onto the tube mount, but they do seat.

Thanks. Sounds like not bad advice for copters, but when it comes to cameras and tubes, I think my choices as to what I can do are more limited. In any case, I think I'll stay away from smearing any gooey or slimy stuff onto the mount areas.

I use those same tubes. That's how they fit. Nothing wrong with it. If you use them frequently they will ease up some. No damage will occur

Sounds like you got a good copy. Obviously the OP did not. This has come up several time in recent years, seems to me that quality control leaves a bit to be desired. One thing for sure - any tube, adapter, extender or lens should bayonet on or off smoothly and securely with NO lubricant of any kind. If the fit is too tight, it may damage the lens or camera mount and should not be used.
And Nikon is not perfect. They discontinued the BR-2 reversing ring and made the BR-2a for autofocus cameras, but did not modify the BR-15 ring (F-to-L39), which is very tight on my autofocus cameras but smooth on my extension tubes and manual focus cameras. I’m not sure of the difference between the PK-11 and PK-11a tubes.

Mine is tight too. And I've had a few. No problem with any of them
