lightroom unable to open catalog

after transferring >2000 pics from phone to LR and preceeding to cull multiple LR froze. message about previews. I was unable to exit and had to use task manager to close.
Now catalog cannot be opened because another app has it opened.
Win 10, 32 gb ram
LR is up to date
please advise

resolved problem looking at FAQ at adobe.
When LR closes abnormally the XXXX,LRcat becomes xxxx.LOCK
When it closes normally the .LOCK is removed.
So deleting the .LOCK file solves the problem
