Greetings all, What is your experience with AA re-chargeable batteries in speed lights? I've read the Amazon reviews for EBL and ENELOOP, lots of negative posts. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!

Ten years ago I purchased a new Pentax Kx and immediately used only Eneloop AA batteres. I have used them exclusively and never had a problem. Eight years ago I purchased a used Kx and the seller included 4 used Eneloop batteries. I charge them in one of three Ray-O-Vac one hour chargers I have. Not one of those batteries has failed in the 8-10 years I've used them. They have been put in cameras, flashes and even a couple other miscellaneous electrical items without failure. My vote would be for the Eneloops for dependability, longevity, charge holding and overall value.

Just my $0.02 of opinion.

Currently using both Eneloops and Amazon Basics (the higher capacity ones). I have had the Eneloops for years and have recharged them hundreds of times. I have never had one fail, ever. Only had the Amazon Basics for a year or so but many recharges, never a failure. I have had a number of failures and tossed multiple Duracell and other rechargeables. I have given up on all but my old Eneloops and the Amazons that I think are the same battery and are cheaper (we use many for our volunteer work). I have been using them in Godox wireless strobes and transmitters and also several LED macro strobes and ring lights. Never a problem. When using the strobes at 1/1 power the highest capacity batteries (2500-2800) do run out after 150-200 flashes. After 50-100 flashes at high power they take a bit longer to recharge but keep working. Most work is at 1/4 to 1/64 power and they go all day, many hundreds of shots

I am a farmer and am seldom very far from a camera. Some of them have a specific battery that fit that camera and nothing else that I am aware of. I have never had bad luck with those batteries. I do have cameras that take a common aa batteries. I have tried rechargeable AA batteries and rechargeable C batteries and I think they are pretty worthless.

Enloop works for me the very best, long life and high quality. My energizer group do not last as long for what it is worth.

Cheers!

I bought the Duracell, also on Amazon and they work great in my speed light. I also use them in my mouse and keybord and they work fine although might have a little less length of service compared to non-rechargables.

I have used the Panasonic Eneloop batteries for a long time, including in my Canon Speedlite 430EXii, and they perform fantasticaly. I have some of the AAAs as well and no problem there.

I have looked at the Amazon offerings and am glad to hear on this forum that some have had good luck. I have had some questionable luck with stuff from Ebay. Samsung branded batteries for my Samsung cell have crapped out three times but a Duracell has been doing great. Suspect knockoffs.

Similarly, I bought replacement shaver heads for my Norelco that appeared to be factory units but the reviews gave me pause and I eventually came to believe they must be knockoffs. Do not behave and do not perform as originals. Not blaming Ebay—they have no way to know if one of their listers is offering off-brand merchandise.

I have been using NiMH rechargebles for many years with no issues. I'm surprised to see so many that think there will be. I've used Nuon and Amazon brands. FWIW, they measure 1.41 VDC when fully charged.

I tried rechargeable, and found them unpredictable. They would lose a charge right in the middle of something, and they would not hold a charge between jobs. Went back to Duracell.

Try genuine Eneloops with an Eneloop charger (although there are excellent others), and I feel confident you’ll have a different experience and no more ruined devices caused by leaking Duracells. There are two types of Duracells - those that are leaking and those that will shortly.

I bought some Ladda after folks on this forum recommended them from Ikea. The AA batteries were slightly bigger and had such a tight fit I was afraid to use them for fear I couldn't remove them and therefore didn't insert all the way.

Duracell rechargeables have recently been rated higher than Eneloops. So I bought some. I use both.

Oh. I was referring to Alkalines, not their rechargeables in my last post. Come back and give us a report after a few months and please and let us know how you like them.

Also consider IKEA which sells LADDA cells in AA size for about half the price of ENELOOPS and are as good or better! They are Ni-MH and rated 2450 and MADE IN JAPAN. Hold their charge longer in storage than anything else I have used! Just checked one in storage for at least a week and it is just below 1.4volts
Stay safe,
Bob
