I have a Canon 5d mk3 and I would like to know the shutter activations. I downloaded eosinfo and I could not connect the app with the camera. The camera shows up on the computer and I can read the files. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks so much I will give that a try.
Thank you again. It was very easy to download and use. My shutter count is 2805. I bought the camera when it hadn't been out very long. Not much use, but I hope to use it more or maybe buy a mirrorless canon. Thanks again for your very speedy and relevant reply.
Best, Joel
Most (certainly Panasonic) cameras don't need an app - just a sequence of button pushing. Try googling 'Canon camera shutter count' - there may be instructions on how to. However, a count of shutter actuations will not include electronic shutter.

I just did this a couple of days ago. Downloaded eosinfo, attached my 5D Mark III and 27749 actuations. My 40D showed 3869, it wouldn't read my 20D. Using Windows 10 Pro operating system.
I had heard but don't know for sure that Canon does not show shutter count on exif the way some makers do.
I didn't realise that EXIF info was required.
Canon EOS cameras do not store the shutter count in the EXIF data.
If you install Magic Lantern firmware hack to your CF/SD card, the shutter count will always be available to view in the ML menu system.

You need to get out and shoot more! You've hardly broken the camera in! Based upon just the stated "life expectancy", you've got at least another 147,185 shots left.
Let's see... The 5D Mark III came out in 2012 and you say you bought it close to the introduction, so have had it for eight years. Based on what you've shot so far, you're averaging 350 shots a year (I sometimes do that in one or two
hours!). So based on that usage, you're all set to shoot with your 5DIII for the next 420 years! I hate to tell you though, 150,000 is only an "average mean time before failure" estimate. More than a few 5D-series have lived well beyond that expectancy, taking 250,000, 500,000 or even over 1 million shots.
Thank you for the analysis and I agree I do need to use the camera and the lenses, timer control,GPS, flash etc I invested in. I would take the 420 years and shoot less if there was a choice there.LOL
Thank you I will look into that.
