Amazon Used Items

I have bought quite a bit from Amazon's Used category, and I've never had a problem. In the past week, I've seen scams offering the D600 and D800 at very low prices, with requests for a cash payment sent to Athens.

Now, I'm very hesitant to buy from the used category. If three sellers can scam Amazon, how can I trust any of them? Of course, if I go through the regular Amazon procedure, I'm covered by Amazon. I'll just have to be careful.

I tried to buy two parrots from the isle of man for £600. They wanted me to send the money to a delivery firm in Cameroons,Nigeria who would then deliver the parrots. Thanks but no thanks.Nigeria is a failed State where crime rules

Look at a new item, and a little bit below it there will be Used (in blue) if they have anything available. Very often the item is brand new or close to it. They are sold by private individuals. Very often, people sell things like books for a penny, just to get rid of them. Amazon has some control over the shipping price.

See "Used" toward the bottom.

Looks mighty good... but I would be afraid to buy a used camera... one never knows if it was dropped or something on it not working right.... I have a little camera.. which is in excellent condition to look at... but the button you mash for a pic.. doesn't work good... therefore it's totally useless to me now... Thanks for showing that...

Based on the fact that you quote £600, I assume you are in the UK. As far as I understand the importation of Parrots into the UK is illegal. Only locally bred parrots can be sold.
Cameroon and Nigeria are two different countries.
As for Nigeria being a "failed State". I think you are being a little harsh, yes it has, perhaps, more than it's share of issues but so do a lot of other countries.

Right. There is a group called Boko Haram, which means "Western education is forbidden," and they are bombing and killing on a large scale. The have control in the north and are trying to take over the rest of the country. Sad situation.

Surely the IoM is UK?

Thank you for correcting my geographical errors in respect of Cameroon and Nigeria.I inherited them from the putative vendor.

Harsh? To Nigeria? It has been estimated 90% of its aid goes into private pockets. It is a cesspool of vice and criminality. :)

Maybe eliminating aid is the best aid we can give to foreign countries - and to our own.

I am in total agreement. Then we can see who our allies really are.

In most cases, it's the leaders of other countries that are the problem, more than the citizens.
