Hi All: My Epson photo printer is close to terminal. And it's ink cartridges are expensive. Looking at purchasing a new photo printer.
I shoot with a D850 and Nikon Fx Lenses. Landscape and product photos. I use Photoshop and Lightroom to get good quality images. I'm looking for a printer to give me good quality images on photo paper I can use to present to customers and mount on display boards and frame. Looking at videos in YOUTube I see that there are good printers that have more economical ink cartridges. One was Epson ET7760 5 colors. Another was the Canon Pixma Pro 10. What do you guys recommend?
Depends on how much printing you do.
The Epson P800 is a great printer. It's replacement, the P900 is being released any day now.
Stay away from the smaller version of these printers (P600 and P700)
The ink cartridges are much smaller, resulting in an almost double cost per ml.

Not sure how the camera or lenses you use matters but I will say that over the years none of my Canon printers have ever failed me. I shop at b&h for everything and when I can't quite make up my mind about an item I peruse all the customers reviews. Often enough, the relevant information in the reviews as to the attributes of a product make it easier to decide. As far as image quality goes from one brand to another is an debate yet to won.
Just a personal view. Canon isn't quite as good as Epson (close but not quite) BUT the Canons last 3 times longer (usually ink blockages cause most failures).
Check out HP, especially their "Instant Ink " program. There is no better system.
HP has a monthly plan where for x dollars a month you get x prints. more prints more per month. they link to printer and know when to send ink.
My canon still good but old and I ordered ink from inkfarm because if issues then I don't care. so far ink farm been good. hardest part is wasted ink when you replace printer.
Ink printers pain in my life.....from HP, canon , epson......at the moment I have a hp with the instant ink what seems to be ok so far. I don’t print pics anymore, I go to Walmart, Walgreens or whatever store. If I need good prints I go to my printing lab.

HP doesn’t make any real photo printers.

Agree, I replaced my old Epson 3880 with the P800 a few years ago. Its paper handling is far superior to the older model. It's a great printer!

Not sure what you mean by that? I have an 8 year old HP All-In-One Photo printer that does an amazing job. I use it all the time for printing and copying documents, scanning old photos, and printing photos. The only limitation is print size, but I can print absolutely beautiful 4 X 6, 5 X 7, and 8 X 10 prints. If I need larger than 8 X 10, I send it out to a lab.
Over the 8 years I’ve had to change the print head twice, at $32 each time. Couldn’t be happier with it.
I have an Epson P600, and it’s the best printer I’ve ever owned. 90% of my printing is done on 13x19 paper. What I like most about this printer is that if I go away or get caught up in a pandemic I don’t have to worry about clogged heads. It’s a workhorse.
I have owned many "Photo" printers over the past 25 years. I have had a Canon Pro 100 for the last several years. It produces stunningly wonderful prints every time and has never had a head/ink clogging problem ever. My Epson printers always had clog problems.
I have had very good results with Canon photo printers. I have the Pro-10 and the Pro9000 Mk II. The Pro-10 uses pigment ink and makes excellent B&W prints as well as color. The Pro9000 Mk II is an older model and uses dye inks. The current equivalent to it is the Pro-100, which has a great reputation. I find the Pro9000 (Pro-100) does a better job on high gloss paper. Both do superb jobs on semi-gloss and luster papers. The Pro-10 is best on fine art papers. I use the Pro-10 for all my exhibited work.

Epson printers are a POS compared to the 3 Canon or 1 Hp printers I have had. I have had Canon printer that sits for months but has never failed to print high quality prints when asked. Canon ink is so much cheaper when purchased from Costco. Epson is very pricey by comparison. I am on a fan of Epson.

If you are going to print a lot, you will save money on the ink when using an Epson P-800. The P-600 (and P-400) are also great printers, yes with higher ink costs per page, for lower volumes. I have heard many folks very happy with their Canon 100 models which can be had for a very low cost when on sale. Personally, I use a P800. Best of luck.
