Wow. Lots of heat but not much light is being shed. It doesn't matter whether the Russians have developed a vaccine or not. If they have, they will boast about it forever. If they haven't, they will boast about it forever anyway and no one will know the difference or trying to find out will leave everything murky. Just like China and the origins of the virus. The sad thing about discussions like these is that the only light shed is what it takes to please some of the participants.

Reuss is correct. Medically it is very unlikely they have developed a "Safe and Effective" Vaccine without Stage III trials. However unlikely, it is not impossible. They have named it Sputnik deliberately to remind us they beat us into space. personally, I don't care. Sooner or later any serious reactions from said vaccine, if present, will leak out and we will know. Who wins the "race"? who cares. Let just beat this thing.

What deaths we have are on trump. That's a no brainers. But there is not one which is gleeful at the deaths of others. I despise trump. Pence even more. Bi do not wish for the deaths of others. I may use that death toll in an argument but that does not mean I want it.

Does that include the deaths in the nursing homes in NY after the governor signed the order to place them there even after Pres. Trump provided hospital beds (unused) that could have housed them. It's always easy to assign blame and never accept it and you're right, it doesn't take any brains.

As I am a UK member, I try to stay out of the topics that turn political - however, there are profits and then there are profits. Reasonable profits are healthy, but the profits made by the likes of Apple and Microsoft and
Adobe and Big Pharma are not reasonable - neither are the salaries paid to their executives. Don't be fooled into thinking that Big Pharma need big profits for research. Big profits are the botton line after R&D. One way to hide profits is just to pay bigger and bigger executive salaries in the millions of $s.

Agree. When I started my career, it was with a privately owned company. Salaries were decent, management were engineers too paid decent, not obscene salaries, and most profit was ploughed back into research. Then the owner died, company went public, beancounters became managers, research declined, benefits for worker bees declined, management looked out for themselves, and it was ALL about RONA... Company only exists in history books now.
