Mask wearers - virtually none. Same for helmet wearers - none.

Maybe some won't make it home.

I do not normally wish others to have problems, but this crowd {literally} begs to be an exception.

And there you have it. Another person who does not take pandemics seriously.

Notice whose post you are replying to. He/she/it is notorious for emotional, idiotic, non-sensical posts. Don't waste your time replying to an obvious attempt for attention by this cellar dweller.

There seems to be something special about Harley riders covered with tattoos, no helmet, smoking a cigarette, wearing a beard.

A wet T-shirt pulled up over the nose might prove more effective.

Stretching a single layer cloth will increase spaces between the threads and permit more expulsion of droplets, and likely the "gator neck" effect identified by Duke researchers wherein droplet spray (which travels a few feet before falling to ground) is turned into more of an micro-drop aerosol which may remain suspended in still air for hours.

Unfortunately, the purpose of a mask is to protect the public from the wearer, so if people insist on wearing gaiters or pulling their T-shirt up over their noses, the virus will continue to spread faster, as it has been doing lately.

1. I believe the study you refer to is Fischer et al., Sci. Adv.10.1126/sciadv.abd3083 (2020). Duke University performs no studies but Fischer and her crew did perform a study.

2. The study measures scattered light which can only detect particles greater than 1 micron. Viruses and many other exhaled particles are smaller than 1 micron.

3. particle transmission is only measured in the forward direction. The condensation on my glasses and reason indicates that particles escape most masks in many directions.

4. Unfortunately there are no epidemiological studies indicating that wearing masks by the general public is effective. The study by Fischer et al. is silent on epidemiological effectiveness.

Folks will end up with just a few out comes

a. you will get the disease and recover or die
b. you will hide in your basement for the duration and go mad and lack immunity to COVID and other diseases.
c. An effective vaccine will be found and you will be immune but you may go mad in the mean time.
d. You will have natural immunity.

Of course no one was worried. You were the one with the cancer.

I've had a bunch of growths removed. I go every six months, and it's unusual when they don't cut or freeze something. It's my slow but steady weight loss program.

The average mortality rate from a Covid infection is currently averaging about 3.3% depending on the day (figures from CDC and Johns Hopkins), and the current US population is 328 million. You do the math - what % of the population would need to contract the virus for the death toll to be 1 million? 2 million? I’ll give you a hint: ~10 and 20%. Not an unreasonable infection rate if we return to business as usual, take zero precautions and let the disease “run it’s course” Approximatey 1.5% of the US population have already become infected in just a few months in spite of our best preventative efforts, although they have certainly been inconsistent and poorly led (and that’s being very charitable).

How many of them have been asymptomatic though? We can't trust any of the info out there because this is new and the methods used for other diseases don't correspond to this one...Don't get me started on false positives and false negatives...

I guess you haven’t looked into the long term effects of recovering from this virus!

That clarifies it. I was wondering why I weighed 5 mg less after the dermatologist took a biopsy.

Are you referring to what the Main Stream Media is reporting?... You do realize they go with Sensaltionalism right?.... If it isn't sensational, it isn't reported... Plus it doesn't have to be widespread to be sensational...

The virus is carried by water vapor droplets, which is what the study was looking at.

Actually they used a laser to measure the passage of exhaled droplets through various types of masks.
In case you haven't heard, the virus travels on droplets.

You left out: you will get the disease and recover but with longterm persistent symptoms which may range from mildly bothersome to severely debilitating.
