Sadly, there are many in this country who are so heavily invested in a high death count that possible good news for humanity is a possible crushing blow to their agenda.

This RT article really says nothing whatsoever special or remarkable about the Russian effort to develop a vaccine. Vaccine developers in every other country are doing the same things mentioned in this article.

The only thing that caught my eye was how small their Phase I trial was (only 38 participants).

Hopeful yes, skeptical yes also. The Chinese knew about this virus for months before the rest of the world and though they may be crooks when it comes to cyber theft and dishonest in producing clone products that flood the market with cheaply made products, they are not stupid. I'm sure their labs were working on a vaccine before the world even knew there needed to be one. They also have an unlimited population to test their drugs on and would not hesitate to roll out cures before prudent testing was completed. So to have the Russians be the first with a vaccine seems improbable.

OTOH Edward Jenner developed the smallpox vaccine in 1796 with a Phase 1 trial of one.

The Russians do not use the safeguards we use, perhaps we are too cautious in some instances, but neither are they dolts as the west tends to believe.

They beat the west with SPUTNIK and Gagarin.

They beat the west in developing the first tracked vehicle, and electric powered rail vehicles. Igor Sikorsky invented the helicopter before he fled Russia.

A Russian developed the first tape recorder, and Alexander Popov beat Marconi to the invention of the radio but wasn't published outside the Russian military.

Electric transformers were invented, built and put into operation by Russian electrical engineer Pavel Yablochkov and physicist Ivan Usagin.
