Bird identification please.

I shot this little bird at the Butterfly Rainforest at the University of Florida in Gainesville. They identify all the butterflies but not the birds.

From what I know after over 50 years of birding, the beak tells me it is in the finch family. The color in the beak and stripe is throwing me, I can't ID this one for sure. Might be a young Gold finch. It might be an escaped pet finch, but it is definitely in the finch family.

When I lived in a Chicago suburb on a couple occasions I, as well as my neighbor, saw some kind of tropical bird flying around that I assume was once a pet or escaped from a zoo. It landed on an electrical wire but flew away before I could grab the camera and get a shot. The avadavat is a type of finch and could have escaped from captivity.
