We have one not very far from on the banks of the Brazos River near the Dennis bridge in southwestern Parker County. About 20 minutes from the square in Weatherford. Red brick. Some pretty big oak trees growing inside it. Always wanted to go inside but I bet there's some rattlesnakes in there the size of a grown man's leg. And maybe a copperhead or two.
Interesting old building. I know that it has not been used in 40 years.s
From a old town in Central Texas, about a 1 Hour drive from my house.
I wonder if this is the school which was blown up by a malfunctioning gas fired boiler, the janitor went down into the basement and not knowing that the area was rich is gas, tried to relight the boiler. At the time, natural gas could have little if any odor as I have been told. Artificial scent was added after this explosion to alert people of its presence.
From the looks of it it probably caught fire and the structural damage was so extensive it was more cost effective to build a new building at another location. The city probably didn’t have the money in the till to raze the building and clean up the site so the building was left for time and weather to take care of it.
Thanks for sharing that nice story. That old school is about an hour from where I am sitting right now. Next time I'm headed toward Waco I will have to stop by and look at it.
Great photographs! And I know what happened to it. TIME. The same thing that's happening to all of us. Guaranteed, time is going to get all of us in the end. Anyway, thanks for sharing these photos, every one is outstanding.
