I lost one of my golden retrievers in June that has left me so heartbroken. Then just a week or so later we had to take in a Lhasa Apso belonging to my FIL who had a sudden downward spiral in his dementia. I am not too keen on Patches the Lhasa but he is very sweet and loves my other golden retriever and my cat. Being an animal lover, I'm sure we will work it out. But I will eventually get my second golden retriever puppy again. Patches has blended in to the household and I took a few photos of him. These two caught my eye.

The little guy has good taste in snacks - now give him a real one please.

What a cute Lhasa. We had three and lost them to old age. I know how you feel, the house just isn't the same. Lhasa's personality is so endearing. We are looking forward to getting another Lhasa, a furry member of our family.

Patches is 14 years old, hard of hearing and not the greatest eyesight. However, he enjoys going on walks and I even took him in the lake and he swims too!

Ha! I had to bathe him because his ears were so sticky from planting his face in a bowl of ice cream.

I had Dobermans and other bigger dogs all my life , Then my late wife and I got Buttons a very large Yorkie , the little guy had as much or more personality than any of the others and thought he was King Kong.
in 2015 Ruthie lost her battle with cancer Buttons was at her side every second he was awake. Two weeks later Buttons had to be put down, he unknown to anyone also had cancer.

It’s may be that Patches is missing your Fil. Maybe a visit home would help all?
Anyway, good on ya for helping out!

That is a really cute little dog, I am sure he will adapt to your way of life very quickly and you to his. It just takes a little time to rub into a comfortable relationship for both of you.
