Someone in their IT etc deserves to have a problem with unemployment real quick.

Hmm, if the spy thrillers I like to read are even 1% real the "good folks" at Maze better be looking over their shoulders for a team of hit men. Canon is richer and more powerful than a bunch of third world countries. Some one "terminate with prejudice" a bunch of hackers and this crap might be reduced a lot.
Huh! Canon doesn't have all their stuff backed up... (show quote)

Is that why their website suddenly isn't available? I'm trying to get info on a camera I just sent for repair.

the hack makes the web site seem as if it is closed for repairs or maintenance

May not necessarily true. I do not want to hijack this thread and change the subject, but from what I understand, is that the app TikTok has access to everything on your computer. That is what makes it so dangerous.

I am no computerist but I have heard and read that from several sources. One of them was supposedly some high-brow security specialist associated with high end computer security.

So does fb and a host of other apps. All depends on who is doing the data mining and for what purpose

There is a lot of that going around. A Private high school had some of their data hacked from a commercial education storage/software site and held for ransom.

And here is my greetings from another person in the lovely Shanandoah Valley (Harrisonburg). --Richard

Rinse repeat until the smart ones give up hacking/ransom in favor of living.
The stupid ones probably won't be able to get through better cyber security. And if they manage it, well hit men(women) need to make a living also.

I tried looking at their website today and it was "closed for maintenance". Never a good sign.

If not of interest to you, may be of interest to others.
No need to be snarky.

It is all sites of Canon USA - no others known as of yet.
