As someone who has continual issues with cards, here is what I do. I keep receipts, track the age of my cards and return them regularly on normal shopping trips. Also been known to buy identical cards 1 week and return the older ones 2 weeks later. I think the manufacturer builds then with an expiration date so you have to buy more. By doing this, no more lost photos------

thinkTANK makes a nifty cloth pocket case that I've found very helpful keeping track of batteries and cards when out in the field.

It is big enough to hold two LP-E6 or equivalent batteries, two CF cards, and two SD cards. If a battery gets drained or a card fills up I've got the replacement there in my pocket. Putting the used item back in the case upside down is a visual reminder safeguard not to use it again in the heat of the moment.

I called about theno case and they said people didn't want them cause they have other cases or buy cases from net. granted this was a while back when they first pulled this stunt.
obviously they save few coins for each case not supplied. charge me the extra 50 cents, please supply card cases

A "safe" form of shoplifting?

I use Lexar CF cards. I stopped using anything made by SanDisk... I've had too many items from SanDisk die.

I thought the question was weather or not to toss the other card that came in the 2 pack when he bought it , Yes the cardswere most likely from the sam batch. Toos both

One thing I’m going to point out is that there are a lot of “fake” cards out there. Some are even sold at legitimate businesses who may have been duped as well. Best to call the manufacturer with the serial number to be certain. Many of the “cheap” cards on eBay and Amazon are fakes. Thus some of the people posting and saying their cards failed, may have been using these fake cards. I called Lear when I had my issue and it was a genuine card. I have called SanDisk with the serial number of a card bought off of eBay and was told it was a counterfeit card ( I had called as I had a problem downloading the free recovery software

I currently prefer SanDisk.
Lexar cards were great, at least when they were made by Micron up until 2017.
Perhaps not so much any more after the brand was purchased by Chinese company Longsys?

It could be just as simple as a dirty contact. You might want to try a long format after backing up the images of course) which will check that all the data written can be read back. That said, because they are so inexpensive it may not be worth a chance.

I've gone to never deleting images and reusing the cards. I buy more and hang onto them as an extra backup.

I have had excellent luck with Samsung (looks for wood to knock on). They are leaders in solid state drives and it makes sense that their memory card benefits from the same tech used.

I'm shooting and suddenly I get a BAD CARD alert on my Nikon D810. So I pulled the card and continued to shoot on the CF card, my grandsons 4th birthday party. The supposedly bad card actually gave up all the pictures I shot on it to LRC when I got home. Had the cards less than a year - purchased a 2 pack and I don't trust the other card now. It's in my Z50. Do you suppose the seller will replace the cards???

I would just toss the card and get another.

I always used Lexar and never had a problem. The reason I use this brand is their guarantee to retrieve images if the card fails. I don't know how it works as I never needed it. I suggest you contact Lexar.

Use Sandisk exclusively, never had a failure. Am I just lucky?
