This is the kind of weather that makes my heart quicken and breath catch...thank you for representing it so well.
Breathtaking image. Reminiscent of Galen Rowell.
Right place and time? Photoshop? Either way, gorgeous.

A heavy thundershower, west to east, had just let up. Wind, lightning, sheets of rain; all of that. Track of the storm left the sky to the east looking sinister and blue-black, while to the west, blue sky let late afternoon sun shine through. I grabbed gear and was on my way to a favorite location to the south when the (abbreviated, as in not a full arc) rainbow formed. Rather than shoot it with 'town' as a mid-ground, I went south a mile or so to a rise, just off Main St., somewhat out of town where some of the 'better' cliffs on the east side of the valley can be seen, and the few distant houses wouldn't mar the scene. Shot a couple of series of vertical shots with a long lens (70-300mm) at 270mm intended to be stitched pano-wise. The posted image is one of the results.
So, right time? I suppose. Right place? Knew from past experience where that would be, so that's where I went. Photoshop? Only after importing into Lr and doing the stitch.
Thanks for looking, and thanks for your comment. Same to others who've done likewise. Thank you.
I never tire of rainbows, especially with that background. Thanks.
