Most of today's photos are taken from our moving car. Our task was to cross the Al Hajar mountain range on our way back to the capital city of Muscat. The goal was clear: we want to drive the exhilarating but treacherous road through Wadi Bani Awf but, as our guide/driver firmly stated, we will not be able to do this if it recently rained in the area or if it is threatening to rain, in which case we would have to take an alternative but less exciting road. I did not quite understand the problem at the time he gave this information, but sure came to appreciate it fairly quickly. - Lucky for us, the weather gods were friendly and stayed so the whole way.

Most of the photos I present this day come from the ascent to the mountain pass, which took place on a recently constructed relatively modern asphalt road on which driving was absolutely no problem. The last 3 pictures are taken on the very top, after the asphalt and comfortable width of the road has disappeared and we start the descent into Wadi Bani Awf.
