I own a Tamron and love it.

I can only talk about my recent experiences with Sony bodies. Tamron has made the APS-C 18-200mm lens for years, and I had one. I was in the Falkland Islands in the rain, and I kept losing auto-focus. I sent it in for repair. Once I got it back, it seemed fine in good weather, but again, on a trip it failed again. The image quality was fine.
Now I own a Full Frame Sony, and I wanted an outstanding 24-70 F2.8 lens. I tried the Tamron, and the image quality was fine, but I waited for the new Sigma, and was blown away by the quality. It seems to me that for the Sony line, Tamron has chased a lighter design that saves money, while Sigma is building tanks and is still less than the Sony branded product. My experience says that Sigma is the better product when all else is equal.

Hi there.
Looking for some information on which brand
Lens is better.
The Tamron or Sigma.
The lens I'm looking for is the 70 to 200mm F/2.8.
Thank you all in advance.
I just purchased the Sigma 70-200 F2.8 sport lens from B&H. It is an excellent lens. Love the focus speed and sharpness. I have no experience with the Tamron so I cannot say how it is compared to my Sigma. But I am very pleased that I purchased the Sigma. Good Luck!

Which is better Ford or Chevy, Nikon or Canon, all personal opinion
Answer - Chevy and Fujifilm.
Another point to ponder: Canon and Nikon lens zoom ring rotate in opposite directions. So do Tamron and Sigma. Probably not a major consideration.
I am in the market for a 70-200f2.8. Most reviews I have read rate the Tamron g2 higher than the Nikon. The Tamron is obviously the better value
I own several Sigma,Tamron and Canon glass. I find each gives me the results I am expecting.

The best advice I have seen on this topic is to rent the lens and try it for yourself. I tried the Nikon, Sigma and Tamron versions of this lens and found that in use I was consistently turning off the auto focus on the Tamron version. I found the picture quality of the Nikon and Sigma were both good. Actually using them let me take the Tamron off the list. The various rental companies run specials all the time, sign up for their emails.
Once again, try it first was the best advice. The rentals are not free but considering the substantial investment your looking to make, I felt it was well worth it

I have 2 of each (or one and three)...cheaper than OEM lenses. Although I rented a Sony 70-400G(2?) a couple years back and was pretty impressed with it.

Personally, I prefer the newer Sigmas, especially the Sigma ART series. I also like the Sigma SPORT series, but not a big fan of the C(ontempory) series. YMMV. Best of luck.

I am not sure what review you read, but everything I have seen says the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens is the sharpest and best built 70-200 on the market.
Again, I am not sure what review you have seen, but the consensus by many professionals is that the Nikon is the easy winner.

I think they both have great versions of these - but only the current ones. The older versions are not consistently as good as the current ones.

In past years I normally liked Sigma but the last year or so I have moved to Tamron. In my opinion, Tamron has out done Sigma, at least so far. I already owned the Tamron 45mm 1.8 Di VC UDS lens and love it. Made of metal, vibration control, auto focus is fast and razor sharp. Was $599 and worth every penny. So I took a look at the new Tamron 70-200 2.8 Di VC USD G2 (Generation 2) lens. Looks a lot like the 45mm 1.8 only much longer. Same metal case and at 3.5 lbs is heavy. Performance is stellar. Auto focus is fast, vibration control has 3 settings and works perfectly. Lens also features a focus limiter. Images are razor sharp across the whole frame. Was $1299 and again, IMO, is worth every penny. Tamron also offers a 6 year warranty to boot. I have no regrets buying Tamron lens.
I am using the Nikon D750 Camera.

Even tho I usually shoot Nikon I have three Tamron lenses, no Sigmas. The 18-200 is a nice walk around with nice IQ. The other two are 17-50 and 28-75. Both f2.8 constant apertures, very sharp , excellent IQ. No regrets purchasing any of them and I use them often.
