Nothing in manual about how to set user banks. Nikon tech said to make settings in a bank, press OK and should save. Already tried that and did again. Then go to another bank and change settings, go back to 1st and now they have the changed settings.
In movie mode, using S mode, shutter speed goes to something like 1/60, with small aperture and high ISO. Can't change shutter speed. With the D300s, you can change the shutter speed. Limiting possibilities is an improvement?
Will escalate and get back to me on these problems.
Don't have this camera - beyond my budget, but on Prosumer Nikons, there is a separate "Save user settings" beyond O.K. I'd wager your D6 has something similar.
It has save/load settings but attempting to do so had no effect. Easy on the Z7, which does have save user setting.

Good luck - someone will know the answer - cameras as puzzles!

Do a Factory reset to firmware settings and see if you can set they way you want.
Do you have “Extended Photo Menu Banks” on or off? Should be set to on. Not sure what else it could be.

Check Steve Perry's ebooks as he has updated info on the D6.
I think that did it. I made some settings in bank A macro, then save settings, then went to B flight, changed settings, saved. went back to A and settings were as before. Went to C which was some default P settings, and then checked A and B and they were as set. Thanks.
I thought I had read something about that setting when I went through the manual, but it didn't seem relevant. Now looking in the contents and skipping around, I can't find anything about it other than as an item in a menu list. And this is the same for most of the menu items. After some info on basic shooting, the manual goes to troubleshooting about halfway, and there is no further information on anything else. You are just supposed to figure everything out yourself. Extremely poor manual.
Check Steve Perry he just updated his book to include D6.

ALL is well with my D6. Now, for some sports to use it on!

...which is why I don't use that feature on any of my Nikons. I just set it up for the situation at hand and shoot away! ;0) I love my D5, but keep looking at that D6 out of the corner of my eye...heh.

Take a look at Steve Perry's new review of the D6. I think he touches on what you're asking and explains it a lot better than I can. Hope it helps.

After researching the menu items and founding the solution, the problem did not lie in the D6. I even found the menu solution and I don't own a D6 (but I do own a couple of D7100s and a Z6).Thank you for alarming Nikon owners with a bad title.

Just watched Steve's review of the D6. From a wildlife photographer point of view it has many menu features that are an upgrade over the D5. The review is down to earth. I was in the market to potentially upgrade my D5 to the D6. After watching the video review the D6 looks like a great camera but the price tag even with my D5 trade-in, is still a bit strong for me. For the time being and prior to my future lotto win the D5 is my camera of choice.
