At 50MB/second, 1080P, MP4 (LPCM), my GH4 gets over two and a half hours on one 64GB card... I'll need a battery change before I run out of card, unless I plug in a battery eliminator adapter. Even in Cinema 4K/24P, I get about 85 minutes on a 64GB card. In regular 4K/30P, I get 80 minutes per card.

This is the guy to listen to for video. In general mirrorless is better for video than a DSLR. And Panasonic leads the way for video. The GH4 is good as a camera for stills, but really geared to video and excels. You won’t run into the limits on video you get from a DSLR.

Thank you everyone for your solid recommendations. Thinking to get a video camera which would cost me less and that is for one hour zoom meetings. Thank you all again.

I solved this very problem recently with the purchase of the Nikon Z50 with the 16-50mm kit lens for just under $1,000. I use it for nothing but live streaming and recording hour long musical concerts every Friday evening. I simply love it! For me, it is the perfect solution, presuming I don't want to go the camcorder route. Yes, there is a 29 minute 59 second limit, but as previously suggested, you simply stop and restart recording quickly. Then in post processing I use a 1 second fade out/in to cover the transition. Viewers are listening to the singing and when done between songs, hardly anyone notices the transitions.

I record in 4K/30, and yes the files are huge. I use a 256GB SD card and haven't come close to filling it in an hour.

There are many routes you can take, with several products to pick from. The only thing I can say is that you won't regret the Z50 option! Good Luck.

I just thought of another point to the discussion. You just mentioned zoom meetings. This is often missed, but when streaming with a DSLR the recording may be limited to 29min 59sec segments, but the STREAM is NOT so limited. The zoom stream will continue until you end the meeting. In fact, the zoom can stream even if you are not recording at all on the DSLR!

Just another point to consider.

Best Regards,

BT

Here's a bit of trivia for you . . .

DSLR's are limited to 29+ minutes recording capability because for import purposes the U.S. and EU treat cameras with a 30 min. or greater recording capability as a "video recorder", which is subject to a higher duty rate on import (5-12%, I believe). "Cameras" can be imported at a lower duty rate, if the video recording is limited to 30 min. or less.

Just one of the ways that camera manufacturers try to manage the price of their products.

After thinking about this more I’m curious about exactly what you’re trying to do. If it’s a web meeting then just about any kind of meeting software if used can capture the meeting.

I have been using a Canon Camcorder (VIXIA HF G50 - 4K) for over a year. It will take video & stills shots.
It cost me $1,000.00 when I bought it. You indicated that you would be able to spend a thousand. I used my
camera about 70% of the time that you said your going be using it.
