They surely are well fed. But even watching them eat is interesting.

I do appreciate your comment.

Beautiful shot, Bill. Looks like they are getting pretty big. Unfortunately, I haven't had that many this year. The fact the I don't have a lot of milkweed could be the logical explanation.

Start now for blooms in 2002 or 03.
Collect wild seeds, correcct plant, Common Milkweed.
Let dry a month.
Refrigerate from then till February.
Plant in peat and sand. Keep just moist in a sunny location.
Hope.
Whan they have a few leaves, pot up.
Put out in June or so.
A perenial, will grow for the next year's flowers ( or the next).

I'll guess you copied this from a very old article.

I've been lucky. Mine have been reseeding themselves and flowering the same year. And the bonus is they even come up in planters where I never planted them. I guess it depends on how the weather is through winter and spring.

Thanks Carol. Most of them have crawled off into the evergreens as they got bigger. I only see a few now. However, I noticed a female Monarch laying eggs on another clump, so we'll see what happens. I don't know if /how this record heat affects them, but it sure beats me up.
