I simply hit the speach function and say play song 'ain't it high time we went', or say play artist 'Spooky Tooth'.

I like that ability, but I still don't like the car.

My son has a car that has multiple music options including a USB drive and SD drive. The big problem with these drives is that you can't return to where you left off and can't select music. Its a scroll through process. As you know the USB thumb drive and SD cards can hold a lot of music, but getting to the music you want to hear is a pain. Anyone have a solution to making this easier?

We have 2 Subaru's (2019) in the family and I put a ton of music onto USB Thumb drives in folders by genre, like Country, Classical, Jazz, Pop, etc. When the car is shutdown, the next time car is turned on, the Media (what Subaru calls the USB) remembers what was playing at last shutdown, and plays from there. We can also advance to next song if we wish to bypass a song. Don't know if other car brands do this or not? YMMV.

Yes. It's a matter of turning one of them on and letting it run. I have several hundred songs on a flash drive, but it's all one big file, so I can move around. I put the music I wanted on the drive, so whatever I listen to is what I want. I have different folders for different kinds of music.

My car has a menu that brings up the music lists by genre, artist, songs. My husbands more expensive car doesn't lol

It depends what music is available, though. If I inserted my flash drive, all the car would see was one huge file that happened to play music. In my son's car, his display will often show the album cover, but it does that only if the cover is included with the music file. Mine can do that, too, but I don't bother.

Hyundai does the same - or you can go back and hear a song again.

My car has speech recognition; if I say "Classical" it plays Beethoven, Mozart & Wagner.
When I say "Rock" the sound system plays ACDC, Suzi Quatro, Led Zeppelin, & Slade.

I was driving along and a football kicked by one of a group of boys
struck the side of my car; I muttered "fv#king kids" and the stereo played
Micheal Jackson and Rolf Harris.

I have been using an 8Gb MP3 player by AGPTEK which is very easy to use and connect to my car or motorcycle. They have updated models which 16Gb and a slot for up to 128Gb storage if needed, and are Bluetooth compatible. They are available on Amazon for less than $35.

That’s the kind of technology that every car should have. People are killed every day by distracted drivers. DO NOT conduct any activities that take your eyes off the road EVER.

I have a 2017 Hyundai and store my music on a flash drive. You can select the songs alphabetically, select by artist, select by album - whatever. Can't be any easier. Or you can just play it from the start and cycle through. When you turn it off, it goes right back to where you left off and continues no matter what mode you're in. Even if you remove the flash drive it will go right back, as long as you don't record anything new on it. But even then, if you know where you were it's easy to get back.

I have a Civic and use either a flash drive or my old ipod classic. With the flash drive I can use the cars media system to scroll and pick an album, or use the ipod and use that to scroll and pick albums.song

Check out your car's manual.
