Wow, I haven"t even got the Z1 yet, I better skip 1,2,3,4, and go straight to 5, in fact maybe I should Sell my 3 year old used Nikon D3300 and my 5 Lens, I am sure someone will want it, Right? Hey, at 70 years old, I think I will pass on the Nikon Z5 till I am 80 and have a lot more money.

You're going to miss out on an opportunity to "take your photography to the next level". (whatever that means)

I got a notice about that from Nikon. Looks like they’re introducing a couple new lenses to go along with it. They’re pretty slow, though, both only open up to f/4. I wonder if they’re counting on the camera handling high ISO’s without loss of IQ. Fortunately, the LTZ adapter works on it so one can use F mount lenses.

It's an "entry-level" mirrorless FX camera. There may be a small market for it.

I've decided to do just that! Now, when I head out to a ball game, or soccer match, I make sure to pack a step ladder. 😈
Movin' on up!

Read through the promotional material and the specs this morning and it really looks good for $1400. Nikon has added sensor image stabilization, impressive AF specs with human and animal eye tracking and it can be charged via a USB cable. Finally, someone at Nikon understands they are falling behind the competition and is trying to catch up. They should have gone to market with this camera before the mediocre Z6 and Z7. The only thing I didn't see in the specs was fps. As usual, I'll wait for the non-biased reviews before deciding to buy.

Well, I'm not waiting for the reviews to decide to purchase or not. I'm not. I'm happy with what I have and the latest project is going to keep my busy for some time to come.

Per Imaging Resource, it shoots at 4.5 fps. Good for landscapes, portraits and other mostly non or slow-moving subjects. Not so good for birds and BIF’s, or action photography, such as sports, motorsports, etc.

Thanx for the headzup. Okay I looked. At intro, it targets new users who wouldn’t need the FTZ converter.

Once you include the FTZ and a modest amount of storage, the cost (at BnH) is $225 extra for the Z6, a no brainer.

Acoarst thaz TODAY, which is this thread’s title and topic. The Z5 will later be more realistically priced ... although the Z6 could as likely also drop $$ alongside the Z5, not that it will matter much.

The biggest $$ drops will definitely be for the last of the dinosaurs. The writing is on the wall, prism peepers !

Thanks anyway, but I'll stick with my mirrorless camera, the Crown Graphic.

The negs were a breeze in the darkroom ... which was its very great benefit at the time. Other than that I never really liked actually using it. Framing and focusing sukt, as did vacuuming out the bellows. Film advance was given to jamming. No fond memories here.

If you enjoy it as your “mirrorless” thaz sooper dooper. Mine was “premirrorless”. Mirrors were for reflex cameras. It had live view but you couldn’t expose in LV.

Best of luck with it. Enjoy !

If I'm going to put any more money into photo equipment it'll be for my Arca Swiss mirrorless, which as of late, is adding digital to its repertoire.

Doesn’t that mean the next level of spending for buying all those Z lenses?

And the next level of revenue for Nikon which hopefully will help them avoid the 1st level of bankruptcy.

I would be more inclined to invest in Z-glass if I could use it on my SLR and DSLR. But there is no Z2F adapter.

That could be interpreted that way, I'm sure.
