Have to get out early to catch these guys. Mostly they were in the flower garden. But then I caught this one posing on a sunflower. There was a pleasant symmetry about the shot that I liked.
Nice combination of the yellows - sunflower and American goldfinch.

Doesn’t look like the goldfinches we have around here. I think the op was right. It’s a grosbeak.

I've had a number of people comment on what kind of bird this is. Given the climate and time of year, they tell me it isn't a Grosbeak, but indeed a Goldfinch. Since I'm no bird specialist, I'll bow to those who really know. Thanks all.
