I applied your suggestion about dodging. Most all of it is to the left flowers. Not too sure what you mean about the bottom...

I like the second one because of the contrast between light and shadow. It is a bit more pronounced in that second shot. Good job of seeing the light and getting it at the perfect moment before it changes.
