I shoot RAW so white balance isn’t relevant.

When we think we know what the answer should be we are frequently blinded when it is shown to us.

Again, my issue is proper registration, so I can get the expected, industry standard one yr of technical support. This is the 3d time you bring out issues that don't help me solve my problem. I've gone out of my way to be polite & not criticize. I even contrived a "White Balance" case of why it is important to be detail oriented.

Whether the software runs is immaterial to my question. I need to send out a foto to be printed to see if it works *properly*, X-Rite makes good stuff, but I could've gotten a lemon that made it past quality control. In the meantime, my time to return the product to the STORE where I bought it is ticking away.

They would ask me if I consulted the manufacturer's tech support- which I can't get if I don't have the Registration Code with which to register the product, which will enable me to get tech support. Also, down the road, problems can creep up, I may need help with everything from Windows updates that now conflict w/the current software, or just plain explanations of features.

Please feel free to respond if you have the answer to "how I can find the unlabeled Registration Code for my i1 Display Pro Plus".

Repeated off-topic, non-answers are only frustrating. I'm sure you can understand that!

I shoot RAW also, but don't like wasting time in post processing to fix white balance mistakes that can be avoided by paying a little attention to details. Back to the the on-topic issue…

As to the rest of your post: what else, besides getting the information I need to determine the Registration Code number (either on the product box, or on the device itself) is going to be the answer I need to the very clear question I posted???

If you followed these steps:
1. plug device into computer
2. let Windows do its thing and recognize a new USB device
3. start i1 Profiler software
4. configure firewall (if in stalled) to allow i1 Profiler to access internet
4. select registration button on right hand side

and you still have a problem then you do need customer support.

That has always worked for me.

The registration code is embedded in the device firmware. It is a protection feature to keep the software from being used with non-xRite devices. Software will execute with the device w/o registration, but warranty and support might be affected. (This I was told by an xRite tech).

BobPeterson thanks for your reply. My inital post indicates that I got a msg "Failed Registration Code" fm within the X-Rite s/w, so I have it- the issue is I just didn't know where to find the Reg. Code, as I initially stated. Your idea seems to make a lot of sense & it seems likely that this is the answer. Too bad X-Rite didn't put that in the 'Getting Started' documents… Will try to find it within the s/w & will advise you of the outcome when I get back to my computer.

NO! I clearly stated in 1st post that I need to determine where to find the Registration Code. The link you were kind enuf to send is useless if I don't have the Reg. Code, which the link talks about & I still don'ttknow where to find it; which was my initial request for help. BTW, the effort you put in would most likely help for my model… but I don't have the i1 Display Pro, I have the i1 Display Pro Plus!

If you forget to change the White Balance fm the prev. setting of Cloudy, when it is Sunny & your pix will drive home the point of the importance of being detail oriented. You were nioe enuf to help, but twice your content showed you were not addressing my point. Thanks anyway 😃

I just got the same device, i1-Display Pro and ran into the same problem when trying to register on the software. Here's what finally worked for me - clicked on "register online", a link opened in a browser asking for S/N and registration code. These were shown in the software AFTER I clicked on "register online". I did copy and paste and it took.
Good luck.

jrhoffman75 Why didn't you write all this before you became so condescending to me?

This is the last I will respond to you, for any reason.

crphoto8, thanks! Yup, that did it. Why can't X-Rite be more transparent about thisin the Getting Started guide? All registered, thanks to you & Bob Peterson!

Your loss.

I’m the person that posted the link to xRite that solved your issue.
