The close up photo is great. He has been around for awhile and has had a few battles from the scars.

Wonderful photos. Bears are best viewed from afar. They are very fast and unpredictable.

Wonderful captures - but "bear" in mind these critters can get to 35-40 miles per hour in a sprint, and can cover a lot of territory very quickly. Be safe and bring your bear spray!

Three shots out of a burst that were taken in Yellowstone N.P. May, 2019. Still have hundreds of shots from that trip that I haven't processed. I cropped tight in the last shot to better show the debris in his right eye and the blade of grass hanging from his mouth. His look shows a bit of attitude and he could mean business if he got riled. Looking at the last shot now, it looks like he is peering into my soul!

BTW, these are best viewed in Download and, I wasn't as close as these cropped images make it appear.

Thank you, Hereford. Yes, distance is best and they recommend 100 yards in Yellowstone N.P. and, in actuality, you can seldom get closer other than bear jams!!
