The video clip has the events happening during the revolutionary war and in fact mentioned the colonies which by the time of the battle of 1812 were states not colonies.
This story has been debunked several times over the years as fictional.
Here is the real story about it.

And, my fellow Americans, be sure to NOT WATCH ANY NFL games until such time as they return to being true Americans. Taking a knee during the National Anthem is just despicable! The commissioner also has to go!

I am confused. I thought people taking a stand, peaceful protesting, is probably the most admirable American trait. Your founders did not accept British rule and did something about it. Throughout your history you have groups that did not accept the status quo as they felt it wrong (suffragettes, women's rights, ending slavery, etc etc). They protested and changed America.

Protestors are true Americans. Many paid for it with their lives just as you see in this flag video. They could have capitulated but they didn't. Think about that for a minute......

By the same token we who love this country and what it stands for have the same right to boycott, demonstrate, and voice our opinion as do the hate America protestors.

Your TV stations must show what happened through rose colored glasses. Do you mean peaceful like in Seattle where they created the CHOP zone and the Democratic mayor didn't act until they came to her home (after a few murders), or peaceful where the protestors pulled down national monuments and other statues. The protest in my town was peaceful as nothing was damaged. Those same 'peaceful' protestors are the ones who complain when they get arrested for looting. Sorry, not so peaceful this time around. No need to reply as you've already shown plenty of ignorance.

"The Star-Spangled Banner" is the national anthem of the United States. The lyrics come from the Defence of Fort M'Henry,[2] a poem written on September 14, 1814, by 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the Royal Navy in Baltimore Harbor during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. Key was inspired by the large U.S. flag, with 15 stars and 15 stripes, known as the Star-Spangled Banner, flying triumphantly above the fort during the U.S. victory.

The poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men's social club in London. "To Anacreon in Heaven" (or "The Anacreontic Song"), with various lyrics, was already popular in the United States. This setting, renamed "The Star-Spangled Banner", soon became a well-known U.S. patriotic song. With a range of 19 semitones, it is known for being very difficult to sing. Although the poem has four stanzas, only the first is commonly sung today.

"The Star-Spangled Banner" was recognized for official use by the United States Navy in 1889, and by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson in 1916, and was made the national anthem by a congressional resolution on March 3, 1931 (46 Stat. 1508, codified at 36 U.S.C. ยง 301), which was signed by President Herbert Hoover.

Before 1931, other songs served as the hymns of U.S. officialdom. "Hail, Columbia" served this purpose at official functions for most of the 19th century. "My Country, 'Tis of Thee", whose melody is identical to "God Save the Queen", the United Kingdom's national anthem,[3] also served as a de facto national anthem.[4] Following the War of 1812 and subsequent U.S. wars, other songs emerged to compete for popularity at public events, among them "America the Beautiful", which itself was being considered before 1931, as a candidate to become the national anthem of the United States.[5]

Your comments about Trump shows that you have drank the kool-aid that he is pouring out on the news these days. Anything negative about his HAS to be fake news right? I am so glad that others at least have a bit of intelligence to sift through events and make up their own minds.

True, but completely irrelevant.

The narrator made several comments indicating that he believed (or at least wanted us to believe) that the war he was talking about was the Revolutionary War, not the War of 1812. Some things he says wouldn't make sense regarding the War of 1812. Hence, he was off by several decades.

So---if you don't like history, change it? The mantra of the left.

The video is heartwarming and stirring.

Unfortunately much of the narrative takes a few true facts and significantly enhances the truths with complete misstatements of fact (means made up stuff.)

The bare simple facts of the actual true story are heartwarming enough for me. The video is a kind of propaganda that does not need to be shared due to the abundance of added, made up stuff.

Surely when anything is positive regarding America it is propaganda, I get it.

Wrong, as usual.

It's the leftist here arguing in favor of correct history, and the conservatives wanting to go along with the fiction.

I think that one of the great benefits of these types of posted messages (and their responses), are the responses that cite historically accurate sources.

**** you, you ********* piece of ***! (self-censoring after calming down a bit)

I Love this country. You, and the rest of your cult, who can't see past your love affair with Trump, have done far more damage to this country than every liberal in the last 200 years.

I had two sentences there. Which one are you saying, Of course not, to?

There are always SOME good people on both sides. It would seem that every confrontation is headed up by two groups, one Right and one Left. But other than those two groups who sometimes resort to violence there are some others in the background, some Right and some Left who have no intention of getting violent or, "Mixing it up" but who stay in the background. There is also the group, sometimes the initial group of Left Wing violent people who will at some time resort to looting and arson. Some also go for assaulting police, some civilians who are standing around etc.

OMG Mary Jane...Self censoring??? Can't you even control yourself on a keyboard OR is just more political theater? I can just see you now, getting all upset, twisting your hair between your finger and thump and then getting your panties all in a tangle. Oh my you must be quite a sight to whoever is there with you.

Love affair with Trump? Hmmmm. I see no love affair but some genuine respect for a President who puts up with more CRAP than any other President in history. You Liberals continue with your BS even about the virus only to try to prove him wrong at any cost to the rest of the country.

Let's take a good look at the Hydroxy question. Trump said it seems to be working. The Left says it does not/will not work. Some governors have forbidden to use the drug in their state. But WAIT...There's more. Tests have shown that the exact drug President Trump says works on some patients to cure the virus actually DOES work. Imagine that I and President Trump are correct and that there are any number of people who could have been saved if only they had been allowed to use the Hydroxychloroquine drug. Imagine if that was you or one of your relatives, children perhaps. When dealing with a virus for which there is no known cure would it not seem useful to allow anything that has some chance of working to save a patient's life? I would think that and I am not even a doctor. If I was suffering from the virus and my hope was hydroxychloroquine I would be taking that drug.

Once again those of you on the Left continue to prove beyond any doubt that you are anti American when you support BLM. It is a Marxist organization and its leaders have said so. Sorry if you missed it. That organization is anti American and has also stated it will do what IT thinks is necessary to force America to yield to its demands. Sounds pretty anti American to me, huh? Here I have always thought that America was founded on a Democratic Republic where citizens got to choose who was representing us. Apparently there is a new group in the country called BLM and/or Antifa who have stated THEY will decide what is best for Americans. Good to know.

But what about our elected politicians? Where are they on this matter? It would seem the Left side of Congress is supporting BLM and Antifa tooth and nail. Since you claim to be a Liberal, Mary Jane, tell us how you can support two groups that definitely are against America and our freedoms.

Did you support and love America enough to join the military, ever? I am thinking you did not. You don't even respect our military nor our flag well enough to keep it right side up. Your anti American ideas seem more like simple cowardice to me.

This should be good.

PS: Take a deep breath before answering. Golly gee I sure don't want you suffering a myocardial infarction while attacking that keyboard.

You will notice most of my post centers upon after your, YOU, YOU, YOU section.

Thanks Dennis. Will do.

I have had trouble knowing how to follow the prescribed procedures-despite the very complete instructions, so your remarks are timely and appreciated.
