Just an FYI: There are two major divisions in the jumping Orthoptera - Caelifera (generally grasshoppers) and Ensifera (generally katydids and crickets). Your spec is a female katydid, probably a Conocephalus (or meadow 'grasshopper' - are you confused by the common names yet? Better, a meadow katydid!). Key characters, long antennae and long ovipositor, in this case, sword-like, and short wings (it's an adult). Nice find, they are usually very quick to disappear.
Thanks for the info. The more that I come to know about things shows me the more about things that I don't know.
