I don't know about the rest of you in terms of Nikons Service. Mine has been suboptimal to the point where i wrote a long detailed letter to Nikon USA, White Plains, only to be told my points were not relevant (poor dealer support, competing with their own dealers, withholding cash back % and redeeming the remainder in merchandise to name a few) and their business model was required because non-authorized repair shops were not doing a good job, therefore they would no longer be providing parts, etc, etc. etc. So--------the hell with them, I found a very good, reasonably priced, prompt service down the street from B&H, PHOTO TECH, NYC. Fast turn around, prompt estimates and they don't care where you bought your gear, they are happy to fix it.
One data point... I sent in my D750 for a dreaded "ERR" message. Mailed it 13 June and just received it back, yesterday, 3 July. I checked status everyday via their website... They did much more than I expected and I am very pleased with what they did. Good luck with your D5300!

Nikon repair was shut down for a while due to COVID-19. Are they open again? How long ago did you send it? If you sent the camera for Nikon to repair you will get info from Nikon on the repair status and cost. You can call them if you want status.
They recently updated their site as of June 24 >>
https://www.nikonusa.com/en/service-and-support/service-and-repair.pageNow open again yay...

I'm cranky today and couldn't resist!
I resemble that remark sometimes!! 😆
Good. But then they are likely to have a backlog. So a phone call to them is probably needed to get immediate status.
I recently sent a D850 when the opened. They repaired and everything. Took about 2 week. I'm very happy with the results.
They have a website that will give an estimate of the repair cost.

Trying to repair sub control wheel on Nikon d5300 , did send fo Nikon repair , any information on Nikon repair ,results from any one ,cost or any information ? Thanks
To answer the first 2 posts, in reverse order, YES they are open for repairs. I just sent a body and 2 lenses to the California repair facility. The last time I had to send a lens in, it went to the New York facility and they did a great job for me on a 24-70 f2.8G that dropped down a rocky cliff by a waterfall. They were able to fix it for 1/4 the price of a new one. It came back just like a new lens.
